Like in any sport, surfing enthusiasts come all types of sizes, shape, characters and background, it has evolved over the generations to become an recognizable iconic surf culture which all started in the 1950’s with their surfing and beach movies.
Amid all the fashion styles, lingo and coolness, surfers are commonly bonded with their love of the sport. Also like in any culture there are good, bad and beautiful elements.
The good
As you all know, it takes months to get to the point where one is proficient in surfboarding along as getting acquainted with the ways a wave can form and break. As expected there are negative elements in the surfing culture. Some surfers or groups of surfers think they own the waves and they try to domain and control access to some areas of the beach and waves. Occasionally, resorting to threats and violence to get their way.

To the surfer, Surfing is all about freedom. Freedom to seek out and ride the perfect wave. Freedom to develop your skills to their peak.
On the beach, surfers seem to be one with the environment, Seeking the sun, the colored sky, warm sand beaches underfoot plays into the feelings that draw surfers to the waves. Its also the raw passion of the board, the waves and the quest for the perfect ride, there’s a sense of beauty in the form, grace and skill of the surfer riding on a wave and the beauty of excellence. And the bonding of like-minded people that draws individuals into the culture.
Whether its for endorsements take follows from winning competitions or self fulfillment of experiencing the ride, that beauty is there for anyone who seeks it.
