Discount Summer Deals In Lanzarote

One silver lining to the dark clouds created by the credit crunch and the current economic gloom is that many holiday companies are now being forced to reduce the cost of holidays to popular destinations such as Spain.  With cut price deals now available on islands such as Lanzarote.  Located in the Canaries off the coast of West Africa.

The weather in Lanzarote is ideal all year round thanks to this location close to the Tropic of Cancer.  With temperatures averaging 20 Celsius even during winter.  But in the summer the islands are cooled by the Trade Winds – which ensures that the heat doesn’t become as unbearable as it can do on the Spanish mainland during July and August.

Lanzarote boasts over ninety beaches making it ideal for sun worshippers. But the island also offers a wide range of attractions and things to do for those who like to do more than just soak up the rays.

The Timanfaya Volcano Park is undoubtedly Lanzarote´s best know tourist attraction.  As this is the spot where 300 volcanoes emerged from the ground in the 1730´s.  Spewing forth streams of lava which subsequently solidified, carpeting around one quarter of the island.  The scenery here is so surreal that visitors could be forgiven for thinking that they were visiting another planet.  And a number of science fiction films have used this incredible terrain as a cinematic backdrop.

The north of Lanzarote is a complete contrast – green and lush, with villages such as Haria and Maguez set into palm packed valleys.  And as the island is so small its ideal for sightseeing – with the cost of car hire in Lanzarote also extremely affordable.  With prices starting at around €18 per day.

The current economic squeeze is forcing many Lanzarote hotels to lower their prices in order to combat falling demand and occupancy levels.  Creating some real bargains of up to 30% off the brochure price.  With quality four star establishments such as the Hotel Beatriz chain currently flagging price reductions at their two establishments in the resorts of Costa Teguise and Matagorda.

Villas in Lanzarote also look set to become more affordable than ever this summer as a growing number of owners compete for a diminishing amount of business.  Resulting in price cuts for holiday makers.  With one local holiday company already offering a weeks stay in the Jardin del Sol villas in Playa Blanca for under £200.
